Olympics

I hate to admit it but the past few nights, I have been feverish following the Olympics. The most dramatic moment last night undoubtable belong to Liu Xiang from China. Breaking not just the Olympic Record, he broke the age-old myth that Asians cannot compete in short races. It was a pity that Allen Johnson the dominant US hurdler crashed out in the semis. In his own words (note it might sound a bit racist, but it was translated from Mandarin to English so there you go)

“My victory has proved that athletes with yellow skin can run as fast as those with black and white skin,” said Liu, 21. “This is a miracle, but I believe a lot more miracles will take place in China,” he said, as a new generation of his compatriots signaled they will be a force to be reckoned with on the track when Beijing hosts the next Olympics in 2008.

Defintely a feel-good moment for Chinese Athletics and Asian Athletics that we can compete with the best in the world.
